History is alive in the port city of Ludington, Michigan. From its early maritime and lumbering days, visitors can travel back in time to Father Jacques Marquette’s Pere Marquette Lake landing which is depicted in the murals and statues at Waterfront Park. White Pine Village is another popular attraction which offers a time capsule of the days when white pine was king and was affectionately known as “green gold.” Treasures from those early days in the 1800s can be found at antique shops and art galleries sprinkled throughout Ludington.
